Co-founder and original drummer, later keyboardist, who played on every album from Three Imaginary Boys through Disintegration. A childhood friend of Robert Smith, Tolhurst's departure in 1989 was difficult and led to legal proceedings, but the two reconciled and Tolhurst has since rejoined for live appearances and was present in the studio for Songs of a Lost World.
